Desperate for Media Exposure?

by Marsha Friedman

Sales and profits are something that every company is concerned with. But if you want to sell, sell, sell, you need to first public relations, public relations, public relations! public relations is a cost-effective way to give your company, product or service the national coverage that it deserves.

An absolutely terrific way of getting public relations is by using print. Many people think that by just writing a press release they will get published in print. But if the publication doesn't like your topic they won't publish anything you send! Friedman , Managing Director of Event Management Service Inc, a national public relations firm says "Press releases are not the only way to get coverage in print. " Here Friedman will reveal the 4 tips to get your name in print !

1. Author a "Tips" Article. " A terrific method to get free public relations in newspapers ", says Friedman . " Offer lots of valuable advice and make sure it's written well enough for a publication to run it without having to make any edits. Lots of newspapers and magazines have a pretty small staff and desperately need content. "

" For example, if you're a mortgage broker write an article with 10 tips about getting the best mortgage available", adds Friedman . Each tip should be no more than two or three sentences. The media loves these tips because they can reprint them as an article or as a 'side-bar' to a longer story.

Not the best writer? Friedman says, " If writing isn't one of your talents - hire a professional writer to write your article in the same journalistic style used in newspapers and magazines." Published articles help to establish you as an expert, so make sure to include your credentials and other boastful information to support your position as an expert. Friedman adds, "Lots of newspapers and magazine will add boastful info just to make sure they can use your article. " 2. Write an 'Opinion Letter.' Friedman says, " Take a stand on a controversial issue or comment on an issue in the news and send it to the Editor of your local daily paper - or to Opinion Editors at newspapers around the country. Always remember to add your credentials as it will add to your expert status. "

3. Create Photo Opportunities On average, almost all local pint publications are interested in finding great images to add to their pages. " Create a local event - a fundraiser, an art show, a local or national contest", says Friedman . "Make sure to get your local press interested in attending. Can't get them to come to the event? Just send them the photo while the event is still current! "

4. Recycle Your Print Coverage Friedman says, "Anytime you receive a newspaper or magazine placement, make sure to send a reprint to a local publication with a pitch and new angle. " If you have daily newspaper clippings, send them on to national newspapers and magazines. Get your articles out to trade magazines and newspaper nationally. . Submit your article to an article bank. " Get the most mileage as possible out of every story!" says Friedman .

Now that you have the tips, you can get started on your newspaper and magazine PR attack!
