Marketing Plan - Define A Mission Statement
No matter whether your business in online or in a conventional store building, a well-developed marketing plan is necessary for success. Developing a successful marketing model will require effort on your part. The marketing strategy you choose to sell your goods or services must be tailored to the needs of your company.
A marketing plan will do the following: define the concept being marketed, note the target consumer, have goals and the needed actions steps to achieve them in a specified time frame. A good plan will also take in to account goal assessments, so that the plan can be adjusted if production is not matching goals. A marketing plan may cover a relatively short time such as a year, for special marketing campaigns even less, or they may be designed for longer periods of up to ten years.
The first step may be creating a mission statement that says who and what you are as a business and what you can offer. A short and distinctive mission statement not only focuses your marketing strategy, but can also be a phrase or sentence that identifies you to potential customers and is memorable.
Next, you should identify who your potential customers are, who current customers are if you already have them, and how to retain your base and how to expand it. This may involve targeted advertising or means to increase website traffic by using reprint articles or other promotion techniques. Consider mutual links to related businesses and products to increase your visibility.
You should then set concrete goals for the time frame that you have chosen. A marketing plan that vaguely forecasts an increase in sales will be less effective than a plan that sets a goal of a 20% increase in sales within one year. It is much easier to evaluate your company's progress when it is being compared to a specific goal, allowing you to compare where you are now to where you want to be.
Once you've developed your market strategy and set your goals, you need to initiate techniques to reach your goals. You need to take steps to educate your workforce whether it be sales training, effective management techniques, or developing an in-house training program. You might also consider offering special incentives and discounts to attract new customers.
Any company needs to ensure that its goals are being met and to adapt when its original plans don't work. Also, a company requires the flexibility to adopt strategies that have been successful. This may require a company to purchase software to evaluate its performance, or hire outside evaluators. For a company, planning and execution are the difference between profitability and bankruptcy. Thus, a marketing plan is an absolute necessity if a business is to survive.
